Street people and 44? is that all!

I'm glad the rain and floods are easing up that have reduced the northern parts for the country to chaos, the pictures where pretty savage, yet we down here in good old Brighton have seen nothing of the torrential rain and flash floods.

Mind you, you can tell we coming into the summer season, there are more beggars on the streets! I'm sure homeless folk from all around come down to the seaside in the summer to harress more money out of us locals and the hoards of outa-towners that fill our streets. I popped down to the local supermarket on St James Street a little while ago and got accosted by not 1, not 2 but 3 big issue sellers! It's not a long road, 5 mins walk and that's about it, but 3 bods selling the homeless mag, but not one of them was the regular guy who usually stands on the corner saying hello to everyone! But that's not all, to random people asked me for change and one young lad, I doubt he was a day over 16, accosted me with "I'll show you me dick for a fiver!" Needless to say, I said no thank you, walked on to get my supplies, kids these days huh? Live is changing fast, when I was his age I'd have never asked that of a bloke older enough to be my father (just) Nope, I'd have probably asked him to get me a bottle of cider from the local offy!!

So, today was Tony Blair's last morning as our PM and now Gordon Brown is in charge of the country, wonder what he'll be like? Tony did a speach to a packed house in the commons, then saw the queen and then it was off to Sedgefield where he was and MP.Tony is having a couple of days off apparently before he takes up a new role as a special middle east envoy for a quartet or power. He'll be working for US, UN, Eu and Russia out of offices based in Jerusalem! Well at least he'll be able to work in his tan!

The Berkeley hotel, where I stayed on my recent trip up to town paid host to Mr George Michael the other day to celebrate his 44th birthday! It was by all accounts a major even and a bit of a top shindig. I wonder if my invite got lost in the post? I was a little surprised, I thought he wa a few years older than that? Not that he looks it, it's just he seems to have been around every since I was a cropped 'choose life' t-shirt wearing teenboy! There was loads of celebs there, Matt Lucus, David Walliams - I cant stand that man as himself, great in Little Brit, but as himself he's a complete knob! My old muckers Rich and Judy were there and I must admit, Judy did look a little worse for wear upon leaving! Geri was there as well to help our fav Greek celebrate his special day! If you wanna see some pics of the event, click the title above!

Oh, it's also another really important birthday this very day and I for one, don't think how I'd come without it. I mean I use it on a regular basis and doing my odd working hours, it's pretty much a lifeline. What am I babbling on about? What special thing is 40 years old today? There's over 60,000 on our streets today, but what is it? Need another clue? The first one appeared in Enfield in 1967, worldwide there is about 1.64 million and there is even one at the McMurdo station at the South Pole! It is the humble cash machine. Yep it's 40 years old today! Amazing!

We can expect more rain over the next two weeks, that much I'm sure of, nope I've not suddenly become a weatherman, but the Wimbledon tennis championships is on and it always rains for that! The top bod that all English hopes are on is Tim Henman yet again, oh well, maybe next year then!

Ohh, one hears that little ex Eastender turned singer, Martine McCutcheon is coming back on our telly screens along side Jason Donovan in a new TV prog, That's right, the former soap stars have signed up to star in ITV1's Echo Beach, mind you this is according to The Sun, so it may be complete bollocks after all. But anyway I welcome the news, I'm a huge fan of both! I can hardly believe it's nearly 9 years ago that she left the Enders and as for Jase, well a couple of reality shows, a few pop tours and tours of other less well known drug infested areas since leaving Neighbours in 1989!

Thats ya lot for now peeps, but before I pop off, I have to say, your welcome Donovan, glad you got to church on time, I'll see you again sometime. Angus, you are welcome as well, the pleasure was mine, always top company and all the best to the Robster! Let's play pool sometime!
