Lucky escape for London & Glasgow

Under Attack?

It would seem that there has been a Lucky escape from death and destruction in London, as two car bombs fail to go off. Both cars were Mercedes, the first parked outside The Tiger Tiger nightclub in The Haymarket in London's main theatre land. The second in a Park Lane car pound, both were packed with petrol, nails and according to the Police, explosive devices, possibly to be set off remotely by mobile phones. The first car was spotted by paramedics, who noticed smoke coming from the back of the car while they were attending another incident. The second car was noticed by a vigilant traffic warden.


It would seem that the capital has had a very luck escape, as both of these suspect car bombs would have caused serious injury and possible death to anyone close by when they exploded. And, even as I sat down to write this, there has been an incident at Glasgow Airport. It seems a Jeep has been driven into the front of the main terminal building, either on fire, or exploded on impact. Obviously as this is happening now, details are very confused, various different people at the scene are telling different stories. However from all accounts, this does not look to be an accident. 4 People have already been arrested, people say that the two inhabitants of the jeep were at time time trying to throw petrol around as they got out the car, which would mean this is another terrorist attack.

The first pictures on BBC News 24 do look rather scary and show the jeep pointing into the terminal on fire from the front of the vehicle. I think this third car bomb, as this undoubtedly immediately seems at the moment, is a clear indication that we should all be extra vigilant as we seem to be under a terrorists attack from car bombs, although no group has, as yet claimed responsibility.

The Police have said they had no warnings and there was no intelligence that an attack on London was imminent, although according to an American TV station, a warning was put on an Islamic website the night before the car was found in the Haymarket. Thanks for the warning guys! I'm sure we are now facing a specific campaign of car bombs and the like in the UK, I mean three in two days is way more than a coincidents, and I do believe we can almost certainly expect more to come this summer. So, keep ya eyes open and ya wits about you, without being melodramatic, lives could depend upon it.

When I came on to do this post, it was going to be a happy one, with jokes and giggles, but real time events seem to have taken over somewhat, sorry. However, lets not let the terrorists win and resume normal service! Yeah?

So on Thursday the Spice Girls announced they were indeed getting back together and doing a world tour. It's a massive tour as well, of course I'm being just a tad sarcastic, it's 10 dates long, which is not mammoth or massive, but for die hard fans it';s great news. The only way to get tickets so far is to register on the girls website, which would seem a reasonable way. No ticket prices have been announced, but you can bet it's not going to be cheap, I'm guessing £50 upwards, but who can say. I've already registered on the website, for London, New York, LA and Sydney, mainly because I've been requested, Ne ordered, by my friend, work colleague and massive Spicey fan David. So ya never know, we may get lucky, although I have no holiday left to book even if I do get through this round of ticket allocation. I suppose clever use of lieu hour's will come into play!

Flip flops that don't flip or flop have gone on sale, these clever little things don't have any straps and stay on your feet by a special kind of glue apparently. They look strange, just soles on feet, but they sure will stop that tell tale tan line that appears in the feet at the end of the summer. I'm not sure if they are any good, if they work or how they feel, but I'll let you know with a full report later on, because yes, proving once again a fool and his money are easily parted, as I've ordered myself a pair. Well, come on, it's a must for a retail junkie like me, but for flip flops they ain't cheap - £12.50 plus postage. But of course they are the first flip flops without the flip or the flop.

I've never met Paris Hilton, she may be a nice person, she may be a worthwhile person, she may give lots of pleasure to millions, she may very well not be a publicity seeking media slut with all the morals of a gutter rat, but I'm so sick of hearing about this girls whose only famous for ermm being famous. She did something wrong and had to go to prison big wow, and then let out and sent back and they got out after just half the given term. So flaming what, this isn't news, at least that's what news presenter Mika Brzezinski on MSNBC's Morning Joe programme thought. She got her script live on TV and refused to read it on each of her bulletins on live TV, she screwed it up, tried to Set fire to it and then shreds it! Good for her I say!!

Despite the car bomb alerts yesterday and the rain today, thousands still marched through London's streets today for the Pride March annual event. There was a rally and live entertainment in Trafalgar Square for those that braved the downpours and security worries. I hope it wasn't too cold for them and I'm sure hoping for much better weather for Brighton Pride this coming August, I'm sure it will be fun, hopefully in the sun, although this year, unlike last, I plan on staying the right side of sober!
